Full Band Practice Arrangements
Willie Thomas | October 20, 2011
Full Band arrangements for classroom routines have been written with 5 voice harmonies. The full band sound can be achieved with either the brass section or the sax section. This makes it possible for the brass section to play the background for a routine with specified rhythms while the sax section plays an etude or core curriculum download exercise. This process can also be reversed with the sax's playing the harmonies and the brass playing the etudes or exercises. These full band arrangements also provide an excellent background for developing solo potential over the various harmonized full band sounds. Special rhythm section parts are provided for each full band arrangement which makes it possible for your rhythm players to actually play together like the rhythm section in a real band. Full scores for all arrangements are also available for directors.
We've divided the arrangements into two groups, one for intermediate/advanced bands and one for startup bands.

I think I misunderstood the question. I was actually thinking about the Curriculum that these background practice arrangements were written for. These full band arrangements can be played by as few as 4 instruments, let’s say an alto, trumpet and tenor, or a full jazz band. there are no recording of these arrangements. However, all of the curriculum they were written to accompany does have play tracks. When we get together on skype, I’ll talk you through all of this. There’s a lot of material online. It takes some time to get your arms around everything.
There are sound tracks for most of the following:
Blues – 12 keys
Dominant Cycle
F-Eb-D Dorian Minor
II-V-I All Keys
II-V Etude
II-V-I Etude
Trailin’ On (On the Trail) Basic
Trailin’ On (On the Trail)
Kickin’ Back (Tune Up) Basic
Kickin’ Back (Tune Up)
Rhythm Changes
Nat n Sol (Satin Doll)
When I downloaded the parts, I only received a pdf of the parts, not an mp3. Where do I get the mp3’s that go with the sheet music?
Thanks for your help.
Michelle
Hi Kristen … If I understand your question, the answer is yes. Everything in the online curriculum has its own play track. Most of them can be downloaded as well.
This is very good if I am using in a class. However, if I wanted to study this at home, is there a play-along?
