Major, Minor & Half-Diminished Chords

Building Triads

Three minor triads, three major triads and one diminished triad exist within every major and pure minor scale. From each scale degree, you can build these triads by alternating notes (intervals of a 3rd) within the scale.

Building 7th Chords

One dominant 7th chord, two Major 7th chords, three minor 7th chords and one half-diminished chord can be found within every Major and pure minor scale. As with the triads, from each scale degree you can build these chords by alternating notes (intervals of a 3rd) within the scale continuing up to the 7th degree.
