Testimonials:

Willie,
I love the Jazz Everyone website! I’ve been waiting 30 years for this. My name is David Turnbull, and I teach in the School of Music at Washington State University. I’m a classically trained trumpet player, but I’ve wanted to learn to play jazz for decades. About 15 years ago, I started into the process, but it has been difficult. Your lessons are just what I’ve needed—thank you. Thank you Willie!

Hello Mr. Thomas,
Your "Jazz Everyone" website is fantastic! I want to thank you for your generosity. I am an adult student who has been learing the trumpet for almost 4 years now. Thank you for this website. It is very helpful.

Willie,
Even though I have been a fan for a while, I had not seen your YouTube videos and I just found JazzEveryone.com. I must tell you that I am impressed that a talent such as yours is a great thing, but your willingness to share your knowledge with those of us players that only wish we played as well as you do is very much appreciated. I have gone through the 6 Lessons and the Diminished Lessons. I wish I had that great information many years ago. If I had I would have been a much better player and improvisor today. Anyway, thanks again and keep up the good work.

"Thank you so much for sharing this idea. I'm amazed how you make it so simple to understand."

Hi Willie,
My name is Ray Feliciano and I am a 58 year trumpet player. I've always considered myself more of a section player but yearn to be a fluent Jazz improviser. I own many, many books on improvisation but have never gotten much from them. You see, I've never been comfortable trying to learn patterns and licks and then "plugging them in" solos. That approach just doesn't work for me. I accidentally stumbled upon your site and YouTube videos and was floored by your playing (past and present) and the wonderful way that you approach playing and teaching improvisation. I watched everything on your site and started practicing the drills. For the first time in my life, I played through the Cycle, the Blues and Giant Steps. I was able to hear (and feel) exactly where the changes were going.Thank you so much for presenting this information. It's nice to be able to see a light at the end of the tunnel and realize that it's not a train! Thank you again!
Musicalmente,
Ray Feliciano

Hi Willie - I can't thank you enough for your online site, your inspiration, but most of all your infectious love of jazz! I teach at Saint Francis High School just outside of Buffalo, NY. It's an all boys school of about 500 students. Just started on your system of pentatonic pairs and I have to say it is super! A very concise approach that gives relative beginners at improvising a great chance to succeed, while at the same time giving experienced players a new twist for approaching tunes. I run the instrumental music program (lessons, concert band, jazz ensemble, percussion ensemble) and next year I will be teaching a full year course on jazz improvisation/theory/history and I will be using some of your ideas, if thats OK with you. I'm a trumpet player too - dig your playing and your horn - what do you play on?

Hey Willie,
I'm in PDX and my music mission is to understand the under pinning of jazz completely and intimately. I long to know the whole vocabulary of the language. I am not coming from a jazz foundation, more traditionally classical. Your lessons truly speaks to a guy like me who for so long has spoken bits and pieces of the language of jazz. Sure, I've played charts, but I never could fluently, completely or intimately say what I wanted to say when it came time for my 8. I have resolved myself to speak it fluently.
Eric

Dear Uncle Willie,
I'm writing to say how happy I feel to have found your website, and to learn about you and your method. I am so delighted about what you have created on your website that I just can't really find the right way to express how encouraged I really feel. I have been trying to play this music for years, but never really found a solid approach. It's great to be able to see you and hear you play, and I am working on the "copycat" idea, and having some success. If I get anywhere close to decent at this I will post a video to get your feedback. Right now I just need to practice. Finally, Miles and I are both guitarists. But I think we've both been listening and trying to sound like a lot of horn players, so I hope you don't mind.
Sincerely,
Jack McConnell
