Hey Willie, I think the Bb tab shows the parentheses around the wrong pairs for a D-minor scale. They should be around F-G-A and around C-D. Am I right? Thanks...

Yo Carlos .... In 8.1 the Eb Major pentatonic scale is correct. It is actually an Eb Lydian (IV) scale, however, I never use the #4 or A natural in the melody as it isn't a part of the Eb Pentatonic ... that's why it works going to the Bb Major. In 8.2, The C minor is actually the relative ionor of Eb Major (Lydian). So, it's renumbered as an Eb minor scale with the minor Pentatonic scale in brackets. That is a lower case m. Sometimes it's hard to tell with the graphics the music writing program uses. This is just another was to look at a II-V. Hope that hepls

Yo Martin.. Let me see if I can help you use these lessons. The 8.1 exercise shows the formation of the Eb Major/Bb Major Pentatonic scale with exercises to imitate In 8.2 the Eb Maj Pent Scale is replaced by the C minor pentatonic Scale and combined with the Bb Maj to form the basis of the II-V-I language system in Bb Maj. In 8.3, the Formation of the Pent Pairs are shown in the diagram. All of these exercises should be imitated until you can play them without music.

When you go to 8.7 for the improv exercise, you may want to print these out 8.1, 8.2 and 8.3 as a reference. We are working on a printer friendly version now. The videos in the 8.7, 8.8 etc, are to be used as reference to hear what you should try to do. Instead of imitating the exercises, you are to use the pent pairs and scales to create your own vocabulary for improvisation. You need to do this without the music. Hope this helps.

You had recommende that we go to the Intermediate Lesson 8 to get a better understanding of your Pentatonic concepts,I've tried twice on this site (Lession-8) and I don't see any illustrations in the windows for "Pentatonis scales and the II-V progreaaions" and "Playing the II-V chord change! I'm very excited about your teaching methods but manipulating around with trying to play the videos at a certain point is very fustrating, I can't just go back or forward to hear a certain part over again when I want too! Is there some extra software that has to be downloaded from the site to get a somther responce from the videos and to be able to see the illustrations in thier windows. Thank You,Martin
