Seven-Up is a great tune to add some energy to your performance. It can be played at a reasonable bright tempo, as long as it’s not too fast.
Seven-Up is a tricky tune with II-V changes moving up and down in half steps and with another shift in the turn-around. Using the b7 Setup is a great way to build vocabulary for more difficult tunes. This melody or “head” based on that concept is introduced in Lesson 5 of the PPP and lesson 6 in the 6-Pack. This concept is used in the 6-Pack to develop vocabulary for Satin Doll and may be helpful when you’re playing Rockin Doll.
Here we present the Seven Up solo transcription.
