    That sounds great Ron! Keep on practicing along with 2 & 4 on the metronome, but make sure you tap along on 2 & 4 as well so that your body is in the rhythm- not just an outside beat.     Try dividing your practice time into dedicated time slots that deal with what you want to learn while still interconnecting them.

    As a trumpeter I approach practice in this way:
    1. Warm-up
    2. Maintenance (technical studies, including custom self-made clark-like etudes that deal with jazz harmony)
