Where is the the circle of fourths diagram with the numbers inside? In the video under “Players corner” – “Free lesson” at 8:02 Willie says “we can find it in the Free lesson study folder Page 4″ I found what might be considered to be a study folder but that page 4 looks nothing like the circle of fourths diagram with numbers inside. Page 11 has a circle of 5ths/4ths diagram which is close but we ain’t playing horse shoes!

Page 11 does have the circle of 4ths with the addition of the pentatonic pairs on the inside of the circle. It’s called the cycle of 4ths because as you go around the circle in a clockwise motion, you continue to go up a 4th. For example. from C to F etc….

On page 4 of the free lesson it has written out on the staff the individual notes for the pattern he is talking about, which does travel around the entire circle.

    Hope this helps,
    Dusty

Thanks for taking time to write back but I think my question was so simple, you flew right over it. I was just trying to find the study lesson Willie was talking about. I finally did. The file path is “Players Corner” “Basic Jazz Language 6-pack” “1. Lesson 1 – Expanding the Pentatonic Pairs”.
It’s a simple thing after I figured out the language code/ video communication disconnect & navigation maze!
The instruction is well worth a little frustration. Willie is very encouraging. You can tell he really enjoys sharing his knowledge.

Sorry that I misread your question. It wasn’t the first time I made a mistake and won’t be the last! :)

I’m glad you figured it out and got your own answers. Enjoy!

@Joel, Willie mentions being able to find the circle in manuscript form on page 4. That might be where the confusion is, because there isn’t actually a circle, but rather the notes on the manuscript as you go around the circle as he does in the Free lesson. It sounds like what you were looking for with the circle and the #s inside in the Lesson 1 study folder. I guess it would make sense for us to include a circle with #s inside in the Free Lesson study folder because it is on the board! I’ll mention it to him and see if we can put it in there and hopefully not confuse somebody else. Thanks for bringing it up!
